"I chose to represent my work by mimicking multiple exposure photography with a digital process. Utilizing anywhere between two and ten images layered together, I was able to compose a very chaotic, surreal vision that focuses on creating mystery within objects. Layering and subsequently articulating portions of each photograph helped to add interesting combinations of color, texture, and depth. By employing these photo-manipulation techniques along with experiences from art history class, I was able to infuse my images with a painterly quality. This can be evidenced by the lack of sharpness (a staple in digital photograph) and my choice in lighting techniques such as chiaroscuro or Rembrandt lighting, which were popular lighting styles during the renaissance with masters such as da Vinci and Caravaggio. Additionally, some images have been deconstructed and reorganized displaying characteristics of cubism. In the end, this process has allowed me to create a sense of mystery, depth, and disorganization within ordinarily organized objects." -Christina Mayer
