René Magritte was a Belgian surrealist painter whose combination of deep philosophical thought, witty sense of humor and artistic capability produced several iconic images associated with the pop art wave of the 1960s. Strongly influenced by his strong interest in philosophy, Magritte challenged his viewers to go beyond their standard perception of every day objects with the use of juxtaposition of different contexts, objects and colors.
