Kathleen completed her studies at Harrington Institute of Interior Design, in Chicago, IL, where she honed her attention to details and design, and demonstrated an eye for color. Kathleen has been recognized by the American Society of Interior Designers for her Lake Point Tower, Chicago, IL residential apartment design and has also received the National Restaurant Association-Commercial Restaurant Resort from the Nation Society of Interior Designers.
After Kathleen graduated from Harrington, she traveled extensively throughout Europe. She was captivated by the abundance of historic European structures and their design. Upon her return to the United States, she used her artistic skill to create pen and ink drawings, using large wooden boards as her canvas.
While residing in Lake Zurich, IL, she volunteered her talent to draw three historic buildings for the 1996 Village of Lake Zurich Centennial. Those drawings were sold as signed limited edition prints, note cards, and Christmas ornaments. The remaining funds were donated towards play equipment for the children of Lake Zurich. Additionally, in 2003, the Village of Lake Zurich commissioned Kathleen to draw four additional views of Lake Zurich historical structures with residents can purchase.
In 2004, Kathleen's lifelong interest of President Abraham Lincoln and getting permission from the National Trust for Historical Preservation to do three pen and ink drawings of President Lincoln and Soldiers' Home National Monument, located in Washington D.C. aloud her to contributed to his memory. In September 2005, Kathleen proudly presented the three views Lincoln's home to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Washington D.C. The President Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum located in Springfield IL was recipient of her proof for their collection.
Kathleen recently completed a drawing of the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. The image was also placed onto other items including mugs and note cards.
Kathleen's most recent work includes a commissioned watercolor drawing of the Berghoff Restaurant in Chicago IL.
In early 2008, President Lincoln's Cottage pen and ink drawings were updated with new landscaping design.
Look closely at her artwork and you'll see Kathleen's signature is to marry the past with the present- five birds in flight representing five people who have inspired her life.
