Artist Biography:
Franklin Carmichael was a Canadian artist specializing in mostly landscapes. He was the youngest original member of the Group of Seven, a group of Canadian landscape painters from the 1920s. This group was succeeded by the Canadian Group of Painters however in the 1930s. This style of painting was strongly influenced by European Impressionism of the late nineteenth century in the Montmartre district of Paris.
