Artist Statement:

Title: Lil' Darlings in the Country

Portraits are images that are changed continuously throughout the year by parents of their children. I wanted to make portraits that were more artistic, meaningful and wouldn't be swapped out after a couple of months. These images take little girls spirits, emotions and place them into an environment that they're unfamiliar with. I didn't want the images to be posed jest a moment that was caught on camera showing the raw moments from the time spent in the country. These images are done in black and white to have a classic appeal and similar to nineteenth century photography. I like the idea of being able to play with images in black and white giving them an antique feel. These images are expressing my passion for black and white photography and playing with the idea of portraits being like paintings or images from long ago.
