Jena Voogd graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2009 with a degree in Photography and a minor in Advertising and Public relations.
Disintegrated, corroded, destroyed, consumed, perished, crumbled, worn away. These are all semantics that might comes to mind when seeing an artifact that is aged and rusted. These descriptions might lead to a negative feeling of ugliness and a lack of aesthetic pleasure.
In my photographs, I want to display how these aged artifacts could be looked at from a different point of view by pairing them with the organic.
Over time, nature causes the artificial to age. Thus, the physical indication of aging represents the symbol of nature repossessing the artificial. In essence, they both go through physical changes, which in the end, creates resembling abstract qualities.
