Artist Biography:
Willoughby began taking photographs of jazz musicians and dancers between 1948 and 1954, which later led to contracts with Globe Photos and Harper's Bazaar magazine where his photographs illustrated arts and culture articles. He eventually was assigned to photograph Judy Garland during the filming of ‘A Star is Born’ and was subsequently hired by Warner Brothers to film the ‘Born in a Trunk’ sequence. This marked the first time a motion picture studio hired a special photographer to take photos for sale to magazines.
