Michael Pfleghaar defines his work in various relationships between elements; whether that be between colors, objects or shadows. Furniture and simple everyday subjects are a common subject matter within his work, as is color. His color choices often carry specific meanings relating to emotion or metaphors.
Pgleghaar made his home in Grand Rapids, Michigan after moving to the city in 1983 for his college education. Prior to receiving his degree from Grand
Valley Statue University, he had a foundation year at Kendall College of Art & Design and spent one summer painting in Aix en Provence, France. For the last twenty years, he's made a living primarily by sales of his paintings through commercial galleries in Michigan and California.
