Harry Callahan was an influential twentieth century American photographer born in Detroit, Michigan. He is most influential thanks to his extensive and unique black and white works. Callahan is a self-taught photographer and was largely influenced by Ansel Adams. Callahan's work was a deeply personal response to his own life, his wife being his prime subject for over 15 years.
