When I first began actively photographing as a teenager, photography was undoubtedly an escape for me. I found solace during emotionally chaotic times through the act of re-framing the world around me. It's expressive capabilities presented a pathway toward healing. Today, photography continues to function as my personal savior. 'Dualities' is an exploration into the management of one's multiple selves. Everyone experiences the multi-faceted nature of identity. We all assume different personas based on various circumstances, and these personas are all mediated in some fashion. For me, there is a constant battle between my inner and outer self- the feeling person and the functioning person. Although this project is highly personal, the struggle of being human is something everyone can identify with.
