Piérre van Soest was born on the 14th of October 1930 in Venlo.
He moved to Amsterdam in 1947 where he studied at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten until 1949. He was awarded the Koninklijke Subsidie voor de vrije schilderkunst (Royal Award for Art) in 1953 and 1954. From 1964 he lived and worked in both Amsterdam and Helle in South Limburg. In 1965 he started teaching art at De Ateliers 63 in Haarlem (1965-1966 and 1969-1971) and later at the Koninklijke Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving in
’s-Hertogenbosch (1972-1987). Piérre van Soest also worked in the field of monumental Art, he painted many wall murals and created concrete reliefs for public and private buildings.
