Contemporary culture is techno-centric. Rising dependency on the mechanical, the artificial, and the virtual validates experiences which are less and less authentic. Like the prisoners of the cave in Plato's Allegory, humanity is becoming dissociated with its point of origin, embracing instead reference to location, sensation, emotion, and relationships. As the intrinsic qualities and needs of mankind become systematized, cataloged, and discarded, what remains?
