A Chicago-based sculptor and painter, most of Harry Bouras's art involves assemblage and direct-metal sculpture, primarily with steel, concrete and bronze. He was born in Rochester, New York and earned his B.A. degree at the University of Rochester in 1951. From 1955 to 1956, he studied at the University of Chicago, and from 1962 to 1964, he was artist-in-residence there. For many years, he was known locally as the host of a radio program on art criticism.
