Brain activity during Rapid Eye Movement dream states is shown to be most similar to that of wakefulness. What we experience during this time can be interpreted as either meaningful or random. Our subconscious is a combination of these two and comes alive when we are asleep. Childlike imagery reminds us of the past, while new situations and scenes can predict our futures. The meaning is in the mind of the viewer and can prompt thoughts we may have forgotten and give us reference when we imagine later in our lives. If only we could apply photographic technology to those events that take place in our minds.
