"In a book, an author creates verbal cues that direct our imagination into certain directions. By using specific descriptive words the writer is capable of sending our thoughts into wide-open atmospheres of imagined words. We are able to feel the textures, smell the aromas, hear the pitch in a character's voice, or see the world the written subject is experiencing. Reading opens our minds and allows our thoughts to form into things never before experienced. In my work, I want to show the phenomenon of taking what we read and seeing it affect the area surrounding us. These paintings show that, as we follow a story, our minds engulfs our imaginations so much that we are capable of seeing the words form into life right around us. My goal for my paintings is to use them as a form of visual encouragement. To tell us that, with reading, impossible things can happen. "
