Utagawa Hiroshige was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist. He was born in 1797 and died October 12, 1858. Hiroshige worked with traditional ukiyo-e themes like women and actors. Around 1831, he came out with a series of landscape prints. These received critical acclaim for their composition and colors. He was a member of the Utagawa school, which was at the forefront of woodblock printing in the nineteenth century.
