Artist Biography:
Felix Vallotton was a Swiss painter and printmaker, making important developments in the use of the modern woodcut. He was thought to have been a leader in the revival of using woodcuts for printmaking, as many of his images were widely produced in periodicals and books in Europe as well as in the United States. His subjects included genre scenes as well as portraits and nudes, mostly an avant-garde style with flat colors and hard edges.
