Artist Biography:
Paul Citroen was an art educator and co-founded the New Art Academy in Amsterdam. He is most known for his photo montage Metropolis and his monumental 1949 Dutch postage stamps. He studied at the Bauhaus under Wassily Kandinsky and Johannes Itten starting in 1919. Toward the end of his life he stopped teaching and started painting portraits. His died in 1983 in Wassenaar
