Artist Biography:
Edgar Degas was a French artist famous for his work in painting, sculpture, print making and drawing; and is known as one of the founders of Impressionism. He is most frequently identified with the subject of dance, as over half his works are of dancers. This subject matter enlightens us to his ability to narrate movement through his paintings.
