Artist Biography:
Born in Eubonne, France, Claude Manoukian's work is largely inspired by the nature around which he was raised, namely the forest of Montmorency, renowned for its beauty. At age fourteen he began attending courses at L'École des Beaux-Arts de Paris (1950-55), where he created mostly textile design sketches, which later turned into scarf designing for several haut-couture fashion houses such as Dior, St. Laurent, Gucci, and Givenchy to name a few. He has also designed sets and costumes for ballets such as "The Tales of Mother Goose." Manoukian has left the city of Paris and currently lives on a farm in northern Burgundy, France.
