Artist Biography:
Getting Off the Paper: “The figure is the vehicle of the emotional responses and states of the mind. By himself he is alone, yet not necessarily lonely. He is the individual, although still a part of the universal whole. Through artistic expression, the figure is a reflection of our selves, either in part or in whole, both physically and psychologically. This is the concept that my work is trying to represent. It is the intent to present to the viewer the concepts of alone-ness, loneliness and the individual in the three dimensional space. The human figure is a universal link between us all. My distorted, dis-proportioned, and heavily textured figures speak of a journey both spiritually and personally conveying universal feelings that come from being human.†-Joshua Heyboer
