Rufiano Tamayo was a Mexican painter who combined native Mexican folk themes with the popular artistic movements of his time, including Cubism, Impressionism and Fauvism, among others. He is noted for being one of few artists of the era who did not use his artwork as a means for supporting revolutionary political messages, his work being more reserved and contemplative in nature.
