Artist Biography:
Paul Amenta graduated from Grand Valley State University in 1995 with a B.F.A. in Sculpture and Print Making, and earned his M.F.A. at the School of Visual Arts, New York City in 2000. Amenta is a prominent figure in the West Michigan art scene, having developed and executed the ActiveSite event, which continues to be held throughout the city. This event takes place in emptied buildings and specifically showcases sculptural, installation, and new media work from undergraduate and graduate schools throughout Michigan. He has taught classes at GVSU, the Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

"After graduation I assisted Elona VanGent in the fabrication of the sculpture now in the Student Services Building. Following this I moved to Seattle where I assisted the sculptor Belize Brother and am now living in Indiana where I am a candidate for an MFA degree in sculpture." -Paul Amenta
