Historical Context:
In exploring the dimensionality of shapes and how they interact, color becomes an emphasis on shape to Cyril Lixenberg. This screen print is part of a series which includes the steel and enamel sculpture, Amaranth, that sits outside Mackinac Hall on GVSU’s Allendale Campus. Cyril Lixenberg, a prolific contributor to the contemporary art scene, currently lives and works in Amsterdam. Lixenberg has had a close association with Grand Valley State University for many years, completing sculptural commissions and participating in lectures on contemporary art.
