Historical Context:
My work employs simple conceptual strategies in the service of poetic ends. Meaning aims to be broad and open. Concepts of repetition, similarity, and difference are directly engaged. Humor is embraced. Irreverence is repeatedly tempered by reverence. Formalism is undermined by subjective content. I would like to work the gap where life and culture overlap. Individual pieces reference real things that have been changed in various ways. These alterations might involve scale changes, unlikely materials, absence, use and or context.
